Calgary to Elk River to Sandpoint, Idaho

Crikey, what a couple of days. Left Calgary at 11am yesterday, with Paul M. LeClair, leading me out of the city. Weather was great, tried to find the Bufflo Smashed Head Jump, couldn’t find it so did a u-turn.

Found my way and headed to the US border, started to get late, so decided to camp out, bit hairy camping out in such a large area in the wild. Sorted out tent, food hung away from camp and fire going.

Decided to get an early start, up at 6, on the road by 7am. Made the US border okay, finger print scan and retina scan. $6 USD, made Eureka okay and got fuel. Spotted a couple of BMW’s, so stopped to chat. David with the 1200GS and Mike with the 1150 GS, both from Texas, good blokes to chat to.

My GPS hates me, had breakfast at Henry’s in the township of Libby, then it lead me back the way I’d came. I’d turned around after 30 mins, back into Libby and headed onto Missoula.

I stopped for petrol and met up with the David and Mike again on the BMW’s. The GPS then decided to screw with me again and lead me up towards Canada. I decided to stop and turn around, as I turned around in a layby, I dropped the bike on myself and the ground.

God Dammit, starting to get pissed off now as I nursed my bruised shin. As I stood there, wondering how the hell I was going to pick up ‘Blondi’ .

I heard a voice behind me, asking if I needed a hand?

Marvin introduced himself as the trucker parked down the layby, and between us, we managed to get her upright.

Marvin was from Seattle and delivers to Home Depot stores.
So I headed back again, along roads I’d already traveled on, getting a bit pissed off now.
Finally reached Sandpoint, Idaho and decided to get a motel as it’s very hot and I’m stuffed.! 450kms done
