19th and 20th July
Very quick update:
Left Sandpoint, Idaho day before yesterday, very warm, amazing scenery and roads again, ( scenic highway route). Stopped at, Thompson Falls and Missoula, Montana.
Just after Missoula, took the highway 12 to Koosia, this turned out to be the 99 Miles of windy roads. Glad wasn’t wet as surface not as good as in Canada.
Came across deer in the road and a small tree, that must have just fallen as there was a bit of traffic coming through, so a ute driver and myself cleared the road.
I was feeling pretty good, weather great and even though late, decided to keep pushing on.
Glad bike has 30ltr tank as no idea about distance due to miles and gallons.
Reached Koosia, smaller than I thought, got petrol then carried on.
Just as I reached Kamiah, there was flashes of lightning in the surrounding mountains. ‘Crappahontous’ I thought as I could see the rain clouds forming and the sky was brooding badly!
I kept going and came across very wet roads, so had missed the rain.
Finally at about 8.30pm and 460kms approx, I came to a secluded layby and just set out air mattress and etc. There was rumbles of thunder and lightning etc
After a bear scare, I was on the road at 4am, coffee in Lewiston at 5.15, am, after riding in soft grass 10 mins before.
Into Washington and Clarkson, Starbuck, Connell, Othello, Hanford Reach, Moxee and then finally Yakima
